In Suffolk Construction's adaptive reuse project, Genia is proving instrumental in fostering real-time collaboration between the structural and mechanical engineering teams. A key challenge emerged when mechanical engineers needed to install heavy new ventilation equipment on the rooftop, which had a huge impact on the existing building's weight distribution. Instead of a slow, siloed design process, Genia enables the teams to jointly search for the best options simultaneously. The structural team can use the platform to rapidly model different equipment layouts proposed by the MEs, allowing them to save significant time on options exploration and instantly analyze the structural implications. This collaborative workflow makes it possible to quickly find an optimal solution that supports the new mechanical loads while minimizing changes to the existing structure, ultimately keeping the project on budget.
